While there may not be a Pitt Panther selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, there are still likely a handful of Panthers who will hear their names called in Detroit, Mich. this weekend.

There were six Pitt Panthers selected last year, including Calijah Kancey to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round. There won’t be as many Panthers selected this year, but a few more names will very likely be added to a historic list.

Pitt is just inside the top-20 all-time in NFL Draft selections.

Pitt is tied with Wisconsin for the 19th-most NFL Draft selections (297) in college football history. Miami is the only ACC school with more.

And in the last three drafts, Pitt is 10th in all of college football (first in the ACC) with 14 selections.

Kancey and Kenny Pickett have been the headliners over the last couple of drafts, but there’s a rich history of first round selections.

Tony Dorsett and Bill Fralic have the distinction of being the highest selected Panthers in program history (second overall in 1977 and 1985, respectively), but the likes of Larry Fitzgerald, Hugh Green, Jimbo Covert, Chris Doleman and Sean Gilbert have all been Top 10 selections.

And Aaron Donald, Dan Marino, Mark May, Craig Heyward and Darrelle Revis were all first rounders, too.
