Today is the last day for prospective NFL draft picks to make visits to teams prior to the 2023 NFL Draft.
In somewhat of a surprise, Pitt defensive tackle Calijah Kancey did not make a single visit, per James Palmer of the NFL Network.
Despite this, Kancey is widely expected to be a late first-round or second round pick.
Prior to the draft, NFL teams are permitted to host up to 30 players, during which time, they conduct interviews and medical evaluations. Oftentimes, this is an organization’s opportunity to try and get to know a prospect and ask any medical or character questions that they might have.
Kancey was a two-year starter at Pitt and this past season was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year as well as a unanimous first-team All-American. In 37 career games at Pitt, Kancey collected 92 tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks.
Hope that does not come back to haunt him.
