The first of two Junior Days is in the books for the Pitt Panthers. As you can imagine, the reaction from everyone involved was quite positive.
Following their day with the football program, we were able to catch up with many of the recruits who made the trip.
Nick DeNucci, LB, New Jersey: “Pitt is a great school academically and athletically! They are building upon a great season and they have a team which I believe can compete big time in college football. Pitt’s program is built off hard work and dedication and are known for being a tough nose team. They also are right next door to the Steelers who they are partners with which is pretty cool and the only team in college football with a relationship like that. I definitely liked Pitt but I don’t know when I’m going to commit to a school. That will probably be before the summer.”
Isaih Pacheco, ATH, New Jersey: “I had a wonderful experience at Pitt today. Walking through the locker room and taking pictures in the teams jersey really made me get excited about the future. Lunch was great and watching film with Coach Powell gave me a great sense of how things operate here. The facility was amazing, I liked visiting the weight room and seeing all the success on the walls of past Pitt players. It was really cool seeing how close the Steelers are to Pitt’s program. I hope to make an impact in college and then the NFL. Listening to Coach Narduzzi talk gave me a sense of great relationships at Pitt. Taking the team bus to the basketball game was fun. I liked seeing how energetic the fans were and can imagine that in the football stadium. I had a great experience there and was definitely thinking about it (making a verbal commitment).

Nihym Anderson, LB, New Jersey: “Today was a great experience. I really enjoyed touring through Pitt’s state of the art facility. Wearing the Pitt uniform for pictures and hanging out in the locker room was really cool. It was fun watching film with Coach Harley. I also liked talking about defensive philosophy with Coach Conklin. Meeting the strength coaches and visiting the weight room was great because I love lifting. I liked hearing about the life skills program and all the opportunities and connections for the future. Training side by side with the Steelers is beyond exciting because the NFL is a goal of mine. Lastly, the basketball game was a great time. The energy in the building was exciting. I like the direction this program is going under the leadership of Coach Narduzzi.”

Corey Thomas, WR, Central Catholic (2019): “I really enjoyed my visit to Pitt today. I got to meet and have a nice conversation with Coach Conklin. I saw a lot of new things I didn’t know about Pitt and I’m told there is more to see. So it was a good day at Pitt today.”

Keaton Upshaw, TE, Ohio: “Pitt was amazing. I had a great time there and was able to build a relationship with all the coaches. They really showed me a lot of love. It was a dream come true and I really enjoyed the day a lot. The things I liked were the whole city and atmosphere of Pitt, I’ve never been anywhere like it before. I loved the facilities and the entire staff. I really enjoyed being around them. Pitt will most definitely stand at the top for me.”
Rahmon Hart, WR, Plum (2019): “Pitt Junior Day was great. I had a good time talking to the coaches and getting to know more about the things beyond football at Pitt. I enjoyed the day and I think the coaches show a lot of interest in me.”

Chris Bleich, OL, Pennsylvania: “I loved it at Pitt. I loved how the gym was simple, nothing flashy just what you need. It’s crazy how you can be practicing right next to the Steelers. Pitt is absolutely an option for me, loved what they had to offer.”
Kenny White, WR, West Allegheny: “I thought the Junior day went well. It was a fun time meeting all the coaches and getting to know about a few things they do to help the team. I met with the Pitt DB coach and I liked it a lot. I like the way the run their defense and think it fits me well. Pitt still is high for me even though they haven’t offered yet. But if something else pops up then I don’t know what to tell them.”
Ronnie Stevenson, WR, Montour (2019): “Well it was a good day. I liked how they were always gonna look out for you and be there for you if you need anything! Also, I liked the facilities, the coaches and just the area as it’s my hometown! I also liked that they have a good strong bond with their players. Pitt told me to keep in contact and come down for games and practices!
Brian Asamoah, LB, Ohio: “It went really well, I enjoyed every single aspect of it there.”
Khalil Weathers, CB, Central Catholic: “It was a successful day all around. Very fun, the coaches are hilarious and they made it feel just like home. Fortunately for me it is home. I got a chance to talk with the defensive coaching staff specifically coach Conklin who said they wanted to see me at safety as well as corner. They want to see me run a 4.50 or below before they offer and I’m confident I can do that, so, yes, I believe one [an offer] will be coming in the future.”
Vinny DePalma, LB, New Jersey: “Pitt was great today. Got to spend a lot of good time with the coaches and Coach Narduzzi and learned a lot about the university. The facilities were great, and everything was very, very impressive. I’m going to come back for spring ball here, Boston College, Rutgers and Wisconsin then re-evaluate.”
Kevin Doyle, QB, Washington, DC: “I had Coach Watson with me the entire time I was here. He and I did not leave each others side, both wanting to learn more about the other and just talking in general kept us busy for a good amount of time. We talked everything from football, to life, to basketball (because at the game), to just stories. He is a great coach who I think is definitely going to be here to stay for a long time with Pitt. Then after the basketball game, Coach Watson along with a few other coaches and I went to go see a dorm room and just see freshman year living arrangements. It all seems very nice and convenient. After this, we went to the football offices and I had a sit down meeting with Coach Narduzzi for about 25 minutes and we talked about my recruiting and how much I liked Pitt and about my timetable for committing and picking a school. He thought it was the right idea and that I was handling it very well and smart too. All in all, it was about my 4th visit back, but I really enjoyed my whole day and the coaches couldn’t have been any nicer.”
