Plenty of good vibes surrounding the Pitt basketball program these days.

Last night, Jeff Capel’s team ended the much talked about ACC losing streak by defeating Louisville in overtime.

The Panthers also have some good recruiting news as a player they’ve been heavily pursuing plans on making a visit.

3-star forward Gerald Drumgoole (6’6”, 200) tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that he will be making an upcoming official visit to Pitt.

“I’ve been in contact with Pitt almost everyday lately,” Drumgoole tells Pittsburgh. “They’re just telling me that they believe that I can come in and help change the program. I talk to Coach Capel and Coach O’Toole and they tell me that they really like my game and really believe I can come in and make an impact.”

“Building a solid relationship and trust level with the coaches is very important to me. I want to build a real relationship with the coaches, players on the team and the community. I need to know that wherever I go, I’ll feel comfortable and that the staff will embrace my game.”

During these last couple months, Drumgoole has had a chance to look into the Pitt program and sees a lot to make him very interested in possibly being a future Pitt Panther.

“Pitt is a really good basketball program and I really like the coaches because they know the game. I also believe they know how to develop players and could help take my game to the next level,” said Drumgoole.

Drumgoole tells me that he’s currently getting interest from Minnesota, South Carolina, Georgetown, Illinois, Northwestern, Auburn and Miami.

Drumgoole says that he’ll be making an official visit to Pitt soon but hasn’t finalized a date yet. Pitt hasn’t offered yet but the belief is that Capel wants to offer him in person on the official visit.

So, how high does Jeff Capel’s team rank with him?

”They’re very high on my list. I don’t have an official list of top schools but if I did, they’d be very high.”
