PITTSBURGH — After the completion of his first year on the job and the signing of four recruits for the Class of 2019, Pitt men’s basketball coach Jeff Capel can finally start to think about plans for the 2019-20 season.

The Panthers, looking to improve on a 14-19 record in Capel’s opening season, will have some new looks, with freshmen Karim Coulibaly, Justin Champagnie and Gerald Drumgoole and junior college transfer Ryan Murphy joining the team to offset the losses of Sidy N’Dir and Jared Wilson-Frame to graduation and Khameron Davis and Malik Ellison to transfer

They’ll also be getting an early start on the 2019-20 season, as the Panthers will be making a preseason trip to Italy in August, and Capel is hopeful that not only will the experience help his young team, but that he’s able to make some inroads with some European recruits.

Check out all that and more as Capel sat down with Pittsburgh Sports Now:

If Virginia, with it’s less than stellar recruiting, can win the ACC & the NC, there should be no reason Pitt can’t either. The DeJuan Blair, Sam Young led Pitt team was more talented than UVA’s last year. So it can be done.
