Newest Panther Ryan Murphy Loved Pitt Official Visit

JUCO shooting guard Ryan Murphy was so impressed with Pitt that gave a commitment to Jeff Capel before he ever visited.

On Monday Murphy made the flight to Pittsburgh from California to make his first trip to Pittsburgh and the Pitt campus.

We caught up with Murphy Wednesday afternoon as he arrived back in California and asked him his thoughts on the trip, his new teammates and the future.

“The visit actually was better than what I expected,” Murphy told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “ I really liked the campus and I loved the guys on the team. The facilities were nice and you can tell that the people around there really want to see this program do well.”

”Something that impressed me was how they’re improving everything and everything looks brand new. The locker room is getting done, they’ve flipped the court around for the fans. Everyone at Pitt is just trying to improve every aspect of the program.”

This was Murphy’s first interaction with his new teammates and he can’t wait to get back in a couple weeks to continue to build their friendship.

“Me, Trey, X, Diese, T, we all just kind of kicked it,” the whole time,” said Murphy. “You can just tell that this team is a big family. We talked about hitting the gym when I get back and you tell they really care about each other like brothers. We just kept talking about winning and playing in the tournament this year which is a big priority for the whole team.”

“I just can’t wait to get up there, I’ll be there for good in two weeks so I’m very excited.”
