New York point guard Jaquan Carlos has narrowed down his list of schools and it includes Pitt.
The 3-star prospect from from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, New York announced Tuesday night that his recruitment is down to five schools: Pitt, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Fordham and Hofstra. Aside from those programs, Carlos also held offers from NC State, UConn, Cincinnati, DePaul, Wake Forest and Iona.
The strength of his game is his ability to score at all three levels and his knack for getting to the free throw line as he drives to the basket. Carlos has averaged 25 points per game throughout his high school career.
Pitt currently has junior Xavier Johnson at the point but has no true point guard behind him on the roster. The Panthers are loaded at the 2 guard with options like Ithiel Horton, Will Jeffress and Nike Sibande.
Currently, Pitt only has one available scholarship for their Class of 2021 but that could move to two depending on what happens with the appeal for Sibande. Because of this, it’s not certain where Carlos ranks and the type of priority he is on the Pitt recruiting board.
