Jeff Capel continues to get Pitt into the mix with top talent throughout the country, the latest example being a player from New Jersey.

Class of 2022 combo guard Kyle Cuffe Jr. (Blair Academy, New Jersey) is a four-star recruit and ranked as one of the top five guards and one of the Top 100 sophomores in the country. Today, Cuffe narrowed his long list of offers down to 6 teams: Pitt, St. John’s, Georgia, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas A&M.

When describing the strengths of his game, you start with his defense and how that leads to him excelling on the offense end. The athletic guard has an ability to effortlessly get to the rim and is really strong transitioning from defense to offense.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke to Cuffe in April after receiving his offer from Capel and he told us what stood out about him to the Pitt staff.

“Coach told me that he liked how I compete and that I never back down, that was the main thing that he liked about my game,” Cuffe said. “He said, yeah there’s always going to be athleticism, there’s always going to be skill but the one thing that he really likes about me is that I compete, I’m aggressive and that I always work hard.”

Now that he’s narrowed things down to six teams, Cuffe doesn’t plan on taking much time to make a final decision as he will commit to a school at the end of December.
