On Friday, Ohio native Sean Jones announced his top three schools list which included Pitt, Xavier, and Marquette.
Jones is a 6-foot point guard who held offers from a handful of Division I programs before cutting his list to these three schools. According to the 247 Sports Composite, he is a three-star point guard who is ranked as the No. 151 prospect in the nation. Jones recently wrapped up a successful run on the Nike EYBL circuit, finishing first in steals (3.3 per game) and fourth in assists (5.5 per game).
Jones visited Pitt on the first day that colleges were allowed to once again host visits back on June 1, and enjoyed his time on campus.
“The Pitt coaches put together a great tour for me,” Jones told Pittsburgh Sports Now on the way home from his visit. “They really touched on everything and I met with everyone at the school except for the academic advisors today. I had a great time riding around the campus and seeing a lot of the historical stuff about the University of Pittsburgh like the Cathedral of Learning. They showed me a lot of stuff that I didn’t know before getting there so I felt that the visit was very helpful. The facilities were also really, really nice. Very colorful.”
At the time, he also told PSN that he would be back for an official visit in the future, but that has not happened yet. If he picks Pitt, Jones would join combo guard Judah Mintz in Jeff Capel’s 2022 recruiting class.
Xavier and Marquette. If this is another miss for Capel then he needs to find a mirror and take a long hard look.
Pitt stopped recruiting him. He’s not picking the Panthers.
Both of them have better basketball programs since Dixon left Pitt.
