Pitt Opens a 3-Point Favorite in Expected Shootout Against Wake Forest

It wouldn’t be hyperbole to say that Pitt’s ACC championship game against Wake Forest is the biggest game in the current millennium — or longer.

Fresh off winning 10 regular season games for the first time since 1981, Pitt has a chance to win its first outright conference title since, well, ever. Pitt has 12 wins in reach to match a program best, but Wake Forest still stands in the way.

With an ACC championship clash against Wake Forest set for 8 p.m. on ABC at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, Pitt opens as a 3-point favorite over Wake Forest. With a 72-point over/under, by far the highest of Power Five title games, it’s expected to be a shootout between two of the highest-scoring offenses in college football.

DraftKings also sets Pitt as a 3-point favorite, with betting odds for both teams against the spread set at -110 odds. A 72.5-point over/under has been set, and -110 odds have been set for both options. A money line bet for Pitt holds -155 odds while the same for Wake Forest holds +135 odds.

FanDuel sets Pitt as slightly more narrow favorites, with Pitt set as 2.5-point leaders. A bet against the spread for Pitt holds -118 odds while the same for Wake Forest holds -104 odds. A 72.5-point over/under holds -110 odds for both options. A money line bet for Pitt holds -148 odds while the same for Wake Forest holds +120 odds.

Pitt’s short history against Wake Forest, holding a one game win streak against the Demon Deacons all-time (a 34-13 win in 2018) doesn’t hold point toward a rivalry, but Saturday’s game holds the largest stakes for both teams in quite a long time.

While neither team will advance to the College Football Playoff with a win, a win for either squad will clinch a New Year’s Six bowl bid and the chance for record wins.

Pitt will lose if they don’t have a better defense against the pass. WF will pass a lot more than Syracuse.

Army put up 56 points on Wake, this game will be high scoring but the Panthers will be high scoring not Wake.

Pitt 48 Wake 21, Pitt will mix in a balanced attack because Wake cannot stop the run at all.

Pitt will start slow. Been betting them last two weeks. If wake starts hot it’s over
