Thomas Jefferson 2023 Defensive End Jordan Mayer Plans Upcoming Visit to Pitt

It’s been a busy month of January for Thomas Jefferson junior defensive end Jordan Mayer.

The rising prospect from Thomas Jefferson has been spending every weekend traveling to make unofficial visits to various programs, most recently to West Virginia and Penn State. At this state of his recruitment, Mayer holds offers from West Virginia, Duke, Toledo, Bowling Green, Kent State, Boston College, Akron, Miami (Ohio) and Central Michigan.

Expect that number to continue to grow as coaches get to see him workout at various prospect camps in the spring and summer.

Things will slow down for Mayer in February because of the recruiting dead period but will pick up again in March. In fact, Mayer has lined up two unofficial visits- to Pitt on March 2nd and then Boston College on March 19.

“I’ve been talking to Coach Partridge and he’s been trying to get me down,” Mayer tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I had every weekend booked for Junior Days. So, I’m going to Pitt’s second spring practice, the first one on February 28 is still in the dead period. I am extremely excited with Pitt being my hometown team and my head coaches’ team. I’m thankful to even be considered. Coach Partridge is the best in the business. His resume speaks for itself.”

”The thing with Pitt is, how the transfer portal is messing everything up with high school kids. Coach Partridge, along with every other coach, say they love my motor. I still believe I have a very long way to go. I have only played defensive end for two years, and only played tight end for one year. I am still learning.

Mayer has a few Power Five offers in hand but obviously getting one from Pitt would be pretty special and he’s hoping to get that news in the near future.

“An offer from Pitt would be overwhelming. The defensive linemen that have came out of there, speaks for itself. I grew up watching Pitt, my head coach played at Pitt. A Pitt offer would be amazing. Everyone is always asking me, what is Pitt waiting for. I can’t give them an answer. Like I said, at the end of the day, I’m thankful to be in this position. I play for the best high school coach in the country in my opinion. I really mean that. I play for the best DL and OL high school coach as well in coach Pat Oster. I am beyond grateful.”

“I appreciate every school that gives me an opportunity and I genuinely mean that,” said Mayer. “ I just have to put my head down and keep working. I have been training with Dee Brown and 210ths. He is the best in the business.”
