It’s been a busy day in terms of extending scholarship offers for the Pitt football coaching staff.
The latest one goes to a player that’s actually already made an early verbal commitment.

2024 three-star defensive tackle Richard James from Camden, New Jersey received the offer from Tiquan Underwood. This is interesting because James gave a verbal commitment to Neal Brown and West Virginia back in May. Prior to committing to the Mountaineers, James also held offers from Penn State, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Temple.
Trying to get James to flip might be difficult because of some of the existing relationships that he has with members of the WVU program. Prior to moving to New Jersey, James attended St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, where he was teammates with WVU freshman linebacker Josiah Trotter and James Heard.
James isn’t the biggest defensive lineman (6-foot-1, 272 pounds), but Pitt will no doubt try and sell him on the success that Charlie Partridge has had with players of his similar size.
While in New Jersey, Underwood also extended offers to three of James’ teammates which are listed in the Frank Walker/PSN Daily Notebook.
