Pitt’s win over No. 21 Virginia on Tuesday night caught the eyes of many basketball personalities all over the country.

The Panthers came into Charlottesville as 6-point underdogs and came out as 11-point victors, winning 74-63 behind 27 points from senior leader Blake Hinson, 13 from Ishmael Leggett, and 12 from Jaland Lowe. Bub Carrington had nine points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the win. As a team, Pitt dished out 14 assists and only turned the ball over eight times.

This performance from the Panthers — earning the first win by a road team in Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena in 23 games — caught the attention from many of the game’s national reporters, most of which gave props to Pitt for its four-game winning streak and its NCAA Tournament chances. Check out what the national media had to say about the Panthers below.

This is pretty funny. Pump the brakes. Syracuse beat a better team last night and smacked Pitt down twice.

Syracuse was home. They also stormed the court like a bunch of newbs. LOL!!! Storm the court for UNC. that is laughable. I’m amused by your posts most of the time… but eff Syracuse! using Syracuse’s successes to prove Pitt’s failures is crossing the line! lol

I love the vitriolic reactions. Thought bringing up ‘Cuse would invoke some “if we made our foul shots” whining.

Even with the lobotomy I’m betting that your mental acuity exceeds that of the cadre of yinzers that blather on this site.

Why pump the brakes? They are playing really good basketball whether you want to admit it or not. Who cares about Syracuse? Those games were earlier in the season. All Pitt has to do is keep playing like they are and they will keep winning. I will be there on Saturday night against Louisville . Game number 8 for me in person this year. I look forward to it. Hope you are enjoying the season as much as I am. It is nice playing meaningful basketball in mid February again.

Vukovcan wrote a grate article about Pitt Basketball. Did you read it? Can you read? If ANYONE thought that Syracuse win was better, they would have mentioned it. How many games have you been to?

Agreed, maybe the most enjoyable couple of weeks of Pitt basketball since joining the ACC.

Huh….the biggest national media outlet….ESPN totally ignored Pitt’s win over ranked UVA. Nothing to be found on their website that night but proclaiming how great the Syracuse win was over UNC.

On ESPN, in Gasaway’s bubble watch column that’s updated daily, Pitt is now on the bubble due to the win at Virginia. Lunardi had Pitt listed on his last bracketology tweet as being close, but not quite in the last 4 out. The Syracuse v UNC game was the game of the night on ESPN and they usually do an article on those games to follow up on what was just aired on ESPN itself. Syracuse is also a bigger brand… so click bait. Because I hate Syracuse I will also point out that they are not in any real… Read more »

That is, not in any real bubble talk outside of Central NY.
