It wasn’t the explosive offensive showdown that many expected Thursday night between Pitt and North Carolina, but the Panthers did just enough to squeak by the Tar Heels at home.
After a fast start for Pitt against UNC, the Panthers built a 17-0 lead early in the game, but the Tar Heels battled back over the course of the game to force overtime with a last minute field goal at 23-23. After a Pitt drive at the end of regulation ended with an incomplete Hail Mary, we received overtime football.
In the pouring rain, Kenny Pickett led Pitt to a go-ahead touchdown, with a scoring strike to Lucas Kroll, and the Pitt defense picked off UNC’s Sam Howell on fourth down in overtime to clinch a huge ACC victory.
Great job fellas. Way to hang tough. Keep the pedal to the floor. H2P
