PITTSBURGH — Late Tuesday night at the Petersen Events Center, Pitt took down No. 11 for its second-straight win over a ranked opponent, taking home the ‘W’ by a score of 68-65.

Much of Pitt’s comeback tonight and Friday has to be laid at the feet of Federico Federico. A big man playing more than 30-minutes per game is unheard of. Bacot was winded with 10-minutes to go on Friday and tonight when Sheldrake was on the bench in the second half Pitt made its move. Virginia’s guards feared him inside and it showed. Hail to Pitt.
It’s time that the yinzers understand what Tony Bennett and those who know NCAA Basketball everywhere outside of Pittsburgh have known for years: Jeff Capel IS the real deal. Taking over a program that was at a 20 year low point is not easy and it takes a long time to recover.
