PITTSBURGH — With a solid rout of VMI, the No. 302 team in KenPom.com’s rankings coming into the game and missing two of its top three scorers from a year ago, Pitt started the 2018-19 season with a pair of victories.
But they didn’t exactly follow the same formula. In Pitt’s 94-55 win Friday, the Panthers re-integrated Jared Wilson-Frame into the lineup, which paid dividends in the form of 20 points, and also got double-digit scoring from Xavier Johnson, Au’Diese Toney and Khameron Davis, while doubling up the Keydets on the boards and playing strong perimeter defense.
Check out all the post-game reaction from head coach Jeff Capel, Johnson, Toney and Wilson-Frame, along with VMI head coach Dan Earl.
