Andy Toole isn’t done adding talent to the 2019-20 Robert Morris roster.
The Colonials have received a commitment from point guard Jalen Hawkins (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) from Odessa Junior College. Hawkins will have three years of athletic eligibility remaining. Aside from Robert Morris, Hawkins received offers from Fordham, George Mason, Iona, Manhattan St. Bonaventure, Siena, Towson and Wagner.
Hawkins will have the opportunity to win the starting point guard position as he’ll be competing against Jon Williams and Dante Treacy. Hawkins is an attacking guard that gets into the lane and makes plays which is something Robert Morris needs.
Pittsburgh Sports Now reached out to the website JUCOadvocate and got their take on the latest addition to Toole’s roster.
“Multi-level scorer that’s tough and has a lot of upside. He’s an older player with a lot of experience under his belt which will benefit Robert Morris on the leadership side of things. Takes to coaching well and is all about TEAM FIRST.”
Hawkins is the fifth member of RMU’s Class of 2019, joining AJ Bramah, Olisa Ngonadi, DJ Russell and Deshawndre Washington.
