Pitt head coach Lance White has signed junior college guard Gabbie Green to add to his recruiting class of 2019.
Green, a 5-foot-7 guard from South Plains College (Levelland, Texas), averaged 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Lady Texans in the 2018-19 season and was a junior college All-American.
A Belleville, Texas native, she will be immediately eligible and have two seasons to play with the Panthers.
“The addition of Gabbie Green to our team will make an immediate impact,” White said in a press release. ”Gabbie is a junior college All-American who has competed for the last two seasons on a top-10 program in the country. Her junior college experience, along with her ability, work ethic and leadership, make her a huge addition to our team. There is no doubt she will make us better and bring value to the guard position. We are beyond excited for Gabbie to officially be a Pitt Panther.”
Green will join first-year players Amber Brown, Cynthia Ezeja, Dayshanette Harris, Emy Hayford and Rita Igbokwe and mid-season transfer Marcella Lamark dos Santos as new Pitt players for 2019-20.
The Panthers will be replacing graduated seniors Kauai Bradley, Danielle Garven, Cassidy Walsh and Kalista Waters, as well as outgoing transfers Jaala Henry and Tehya Lyons.
Pitt is still hopeful but waiting to hear from the NCAA on a potential sixth season for redshirt senior guard Aysia Bugg, who missed most of the 2018-19 season with blood clots.
