The Pitt volleyball continues to garner local headlines with their success on the court.
Following splitting a home-home series with then-fourth-ranked Penn State, Dan Fisher’s team moved up in the national rankings.
The Pitt Panthers moved up to No. 4 in the AVCA Coaches Poll rankings, which is the highest ranking in the history of the program. The Panthers now only trail No. 1 Stanford, Baylor and Nebraska.
Members of the Panthers team also received some individual honors as junior middle blocker Chinaza Ndee was named ACC Player of the Week while Lexis Akeo was awarded with ACC Freshman of the Week.
It was the second consecutive week and third overall this season that Akeo has won this award. Totaling this weekend, she averaged 10.00 assists and 1.75 digs per set.
As for Ndee, this was her first Player of the Week award. Against Penn State on Friday, she hit .611 with 12 kills and followed that up with her first double-double (16 kills and a career-high 10 kills) on Sunday.
The Panthers next match is on Wednesday as they travel to Virginia. The matchup starts at 8 PM on the ACC Network.
