Pitt has made landing an elite big man a chief objective of their 2021 recruiting class, as Jeff Capel has recently met with five elite prospects, the latest being over the weekend.
According to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com, Capel and his entire staff conducted a Zoom call with 2021 five-star power forward Charles Bediako from Andrews Osborne Academy in Ohio. Bediako, who is from St. Catharines, Ontario, also conducted Zoom calls last week with Duke and Michigan, is rated as one of the Top 20 juniors in the country. That area of Canada has recently produced talent like Duke’s RJ Barrett, Michigan’s Iggy Brazdeikis and former Pitt and current guard Minnesota Marcus Carr.
Per Zagoria, Bediako has also had recent contact with coaches from Maryland, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan State, Tennessee and Alabama.
Bediako’s name can be added to the list of elite talent that Capel has spoken to recently with the offers being: 4-star center Franck Kepnang (Norristown, Pennsylvania), 5-star center Efton Reid (Richmond, Virginia), 4-star center Gabe Wiznitzner (Chatham, Virginia), 4-star center Bretner Mutombo (Elizabeth, New Jersey), 4-star shooting guard Jordan Hawkins and 5-star guard Aminu Mohammed (Washington DC).
