On the first day of official contact between coaches and rising juniors, Pitt has offered a local player in the Class of 2022.
Jeff Capel extended an offer to First Love Christian Academy guard Mason Manning. Manning (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) is originally from Jackson, Mississippi, but spent his sophomore season playing with the Knights. A consensus three-star prospect, Manning is rated as the No. 87 player in the Class of 2022 by 247 Sports.
Manning visited with Pitt multiple times during the 2019-20 season, while Pitt was recruiting his teammate, DJ Gordon, who eventually committed to Penn State.
Manning also received offers from Georgia Tech and Seton Hall on Tuesday and he previously held offers from Baylor, Bryant, LSU, Maryland, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Penn State, South Florida and TCU.
Pitt already has one player committed in the Class of 2022: five-star guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, a Pittsburgh native that plays at Combine Academy near Charlotte, North Carolina.
They’ve also been in contact with five-star guard Jaden Bradley and four-star guard Chance Westry (Camp Hill, Pa.).
