Pitt commit Jalen Hood-Schifino will transfer from Combine Academy in North Carolina to Montverde Academy in Florida for his junior season.
Hood-Schifino is a consensus four-star prospect and the No. 29 player in the Class of 2022 according to 247 Sports’ composite ranking.
“I appreciate the tough love from [Combine coach] Jeff McInnis,” Hood-Schifino told ESPN. “It’s a great school & I’m excited to play with high caliber players. It will help prepared me for the next level. [Montverde coach] Kevin Boyle’s background & his attention to detail is impressive.”
A Penn Hills native, Hood-Schifino and mother and sister have lived in the Charlotte area for a few years. Montverde is in Lake County, Florida, to the west of Orlando.
The school’s basketball program is nationally renown, with alumni such as RJ Barrett, Joel Embiid, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, D’Angelo Russell and Ben Simmons.
Hood-Schifino was Pitt’s first commit in the Class of 2022 and is the second-highest rated player in the class to have committed to a program.
