Jimmy Morrissey plays football, but he’s looking for a hat trick.

Morrissey, a redshirt senior center from Huntington Valley, Pa., is entering his fourth season as Pitt’s starting center and is coming off two straight All-ACC selections.

He took the first step towards a third all-conference award on Friday, as he was named a preseason All-ACC selection.

Morrissey started all 13 games in 2019 and in total, Morrissey has started 36 games since the 2017 season.

A former walk-on out of La Salle College High School, Morrissey earned a scholarship while earning the starting center job after his first season at Pitt, when he redshirted.

In the classroom, Morrissey has a cumulative 3.42 GPA and has been named to the ACC all-academic team three straight seasons. He was named a team captain as a redshirt junior in 2019.

Morrissey was also named to the watch list for the William V. Campbell Trophy for excellence in the field and in academics.

He joins Pitt safety Paris Ford and defensive end Patrick Jones II on the preseason All-ACC list.
