CHARLOTTE, N.C. — With his first touchdown pass of the game, Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett has officially passed Dan Marino and set a new all-time record for career passing touchdowns at Pitt, with 80.
With the score tied at seven after two early touchdowns, Pickett led a 75-yard drive down the field for the Panthers, capping it off with a wide-open 22-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Hammond, his first passing score of the game.
Pickett now has 41 touchdown passing touchdowns in this season alone, which also ranks No. 1 all-time among Pitt players. With this pass, he also tied Deshaun Watson’s ACC single-season passing touchdown record, and with one more during the ACC Championship, Pickett will take sole possession of the record with 42.
Pickett is currently a finalist for numerous prestigious awards, including the Walter Camp Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Davey O’Brien Award.
