Prior to his upcoming freshman season at Pitt, forward Guillermo Diaz Graham has been busy winning championships overseas.
Diaz Graham, a 7-footer from the Canary Islands off of Spain, made the Spanish U20 National team weeks back, and on Sunday, concluded the experience by winning the FIBA U20 European Championships in Montenegro.
Across his team’s seven games (7-0 record), Diaz Graham averaged 14.1 minutes, 6.3 points per game while hitting 59.3% of his field-goal attempts. He shot 40% from three-point range and also knocked down 77% of his free-throw tries.
Diaz Graham qualified for the team after trying out with his brother Jorge Diaz Graham and 14 others in Spain and Portugal in early July. Once Guillermo made the team, he thrived as one of the youngest players on the U20 squad.
Diaz Graham committed to Pitt in early May alongside his brother. The two forwards spent multiple weeks in Pittsburgh earlier this summer, working out with the staff and sharing the court with Pitt’s other players. In addition to the twins, Pitt brought in freshman Dior Johnson, junior college transfers Cashius McNeilly and Fede Federiko, and transfers Nelly Cummings, Blake Hinson, and Greg Elliott. The Panthers open their season on Nov. 7 against Tennessee Martin at the Petersen Events Center.
Hopefully They show improvement … need to show Improvement from year to year
