Pitt football offers Aliquippa eighth grader in Larry Moon III

It appears as though there’s been a major transfer in the WPIAL, as incoming freshman defensive back Larry Moon tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that he will be attending Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School this coming season. This is a change from last year when Moon attended and played in the Central Valley school district and was thought to be playing for Aliquippa this season.”

” After talking with my dad and my grandmother I decided that Central Catholic would be my best fit,” said Moon. “Touring the school and seeing all the opportunities they have for me to be ready and prepared for college educational wise, was mind blowing. I’m not leaving Aliquippa because this is where I’m from, this is where I live. I’m making a decision for my future after sports. Everyone is gonna make it seem like this is about football. This is about me being ready to be a productive man going into college.”

” Speaking of football, that’s just a bonus, I get to compete with the best guys daily and I get to be a full time DB for my first couple years. Think about battling with Pete Gonzalez, Cole Sullivan, Bradley Gumpers, Colsen Gatten, Maceo Watkins, Vernon Settles, Jayden Thrift, Jacob Sassic, Xxavier Thomas Etc. Etc. My growth alone from going against those guys will make me the best me for the team and myself. The people who are truly my friends and are happy for me will support me no matter what. The people who are upset with my decision just showed me they aren’t really for me and this is separation season.”

Despite not having played a down of high school football yet, Moon has impressed college coaches and has been a standout in various prospect camps. Because of this, Moon has already picked up his first two D-1 offers, from Pitt and West Virginia

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback is currently working out with the esteemed instructors at 210ths, the trainers for former WPIAL standouts and now NFL players Aaron Donald, Damar Hamlin, Miles Sanders, Dane Jackson, Jaquan Brisker, etc.
