Two WPIAL Recruits Crack Most Recent Rivals250 Ranking

The WPIAL doesn’t get the hype it had dating back even a decade ago, but there are still very talented recruits coming out of Western Pennsylvania annually.

The class of 2025 has a number of talented recruits, some of whom are already committed to Power Five programs, but in the new Rivals250 ranking, there were only two WPIAL recruits included. Greater Latrobe’s Alex Tatsch and Imani Christian’s Dayshaun Burnett.

Tatsch is ranked as the 217th-ranked recruit in the class, and Burnett is ranked as the 247th-ranked recruit in the class.

Tatsch, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker, is a fast riser on the recruiting scene. He held offers from UConn and Marshall entering his junior season, and in the process, he’s earned offers from West Virginia, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Liberty, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Pitt, Duke, South Carolina, Stanford, USC, Penn State and Maryland.

Rivals still hasn’t updated Tatsch’s positional or in-state rating, but considering his ranking nationwide, he should be one of the highest-rated recruits in the state.

Burnett, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker, recently cut down a list of offers that included Akron, UConn, Duke, Kentucky, UMass, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Temple, Toledo, West Virginia and Wisconsin to just Kentucky, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers and WVU.

He was rated as the 14th-ranked linebacker and the seventh-ranked recruit from Pennsylvania, according to Rivals, back in August.

Aliquippa running back Tiqwai Hayes and North Catholic athlete Brady O’Hara are also ranked as four-star recruits in the class of 2025, and both are currently committed to Penn State. And there will be risers in the class of 2025, too.

And while the class of 2025 is about to hit the attention of college coaches around the country, with National Signing Day for the class of 2024 now just a week away, the future class are incredibly strong.
