PITTSBURGH — In the second-to-last game before the resumption of ACC play, Pitt basketball (8-3) took care of business against South Carolina State (3-9) in an 86-50 victory inside the Petersen Events Center.
It wasn’t pretty in the first half, but the Panthers piled on the points in the second half. The Panthers outscored SC State 60-30 in the final 20 minutes en route to a 37-point win.
Blake Hinson scored a game-high 19 points, and Ishmael Leggett added 14 as Pitt shot 50% from the floor. Pitt turned the ball over 11 times but led the entire day.
Head coach Jeff Capel, along with Jaland Lowe and Leggett, described their thoughts on the performance following the game.
Up next for Pitt is a matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Pete. ACC play resumes Saturday, Dec. 30 at the Carrier Dome against Syracuse.
