Pitt Re-Offers Elite 2026 Athlete During In-School Visit

Pitt target Katrell Webb.

Katrell Webb already held an offer from Pitt when Jeremy Darveau arrived at Collins Hill High Monday, but as the Panthers were in the area, a visit was warranted.

So, Darveau — who is still very new as the offensive line coach at Pitt — stopped into Collins Hill, extended a couple of offers and made sure to grab Webb. He already held an offer, of course, so he decided to introduce himself and re-offer the versatile lineman.

“It was a good talk,” Webb told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “He seemed very interested, and he was basically so new that he hadn’t even seen his office yet. He just got out on the road and came down to recruit me and my boys at Collins Hill.”

Darveau stopped by the school, called Webb — a 6-foot-3, 240-pound athlete from Collins Hill in Suwanee, Ga. — down to the coach’s office and re-offered. Darveau just wanted to get an eye on Webb and start building a relationship, not only with him but with Collins Hill as a whole.

Pitt re-offered and joined the likes of Arkansas, Cincinnati, Indiana, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Michigan, Ole Miss, Missouri, South Carolina and UCF in that regard. And while the re-offer is recent, Pitt initially extended an offer last May.

“Before (Darveau) got there, I had a good relationship with coach (Ryan) Manalac,” Webb said. “Coach Manalac offered me from Pitt.”

Webb wanted to make it out for a game last season, and while he wasn’t able to do so, he’s planning to make up for that in the upcoming season. He wants to check out Pittsburgh for himself in person — and see for himself what Pitt has to offer.

“I know from my position, they produce very good talent, especially a soon-to-be Hall of Famer Aaron Donald,” Webb said. “So, I know they can produce talent very well and they’re a good academic school as well, which is a main priority of mine.”

But when it comes to how Pitt views him as the next level, there’s still some level of debate. When he was talking to Darveau, he was pitched as an offensive lineman, but when he’s talked to Manalac, he’s been pitched as a defensive lineman. Webb likes playing defensive line more at this point, it’s more fun, but he knows when it comes to longevity, offensive lineman is likely the better career choice.

Webb has mainly starred as a defensive lineman at Collins Hill, earning All-Region honors as a sophomore, and he racked 39 tackles (15 solo), 12 tackles for loss, five sacks and a fumble recovery in the process.

Webb isn’t rated by the major recruiting services (247Sports, Rivals or On3), considering he’s a recruit in the class of 2026, but it’s almost a certainty that he will be one of the higher-ranked recruits in the class.

He’s hearing a lot from Arkansas, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina and UCF at this point, aside from Pitt, and he’s looking for a program that will keep it real with him. He has a good eye for figuring out who’s real and who’s not at this point.

“My relationship with everybody on the staff will have to be strong,” Webb said. “I think my mom will have to play a big role in that, she will have to agree with me going there, and I will have to have a good role on the team as well. I want to play.”

Pitt is in the mix. He isn’t planning a spring visit as of now, but the coaching staff has mentioned getting him out for a camp in the summer and then again for a game in the fall.

“Pitt is definitely in my top schools because I know they produce good talent, and they’re a very good academic school,” Webb said. “And I like the location.”

Pitt has not yet landed a commitment in the class of 2025, but the recruits in the class are beginning to come to the forefront.

The Panthers are in the mix for four-star linebacker Dayshaun Burnett (Pittsburgh, Pa.), three-star athlete Emmanuel Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va.), three-star offensive lineman Raphael Greene (Cincinnati, Ohio), four-star wide receiver Jadyn Robinson (San Juan Capistrano, Cal.), three-star running back Jeffrey Overton Jr. (Woodbridge, Va.), three-star athlete Jaiden Brown-Demery (Mest Mifflin, Pa.) and three-star edge rusher Sharlandiin Strange (Wyncote, Pa).
