St. Patrick’s Day’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Duquesne-VCU, Florida-Auburn, Red Wings-Penguins
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone. We had a bit of luck ourselves yesterday with the Winning Picks, finishing 2-1. The Rangers were able to pick up a win over the lowly Penguins. This nightmare of a season is almost over for the Pens, thank God. Duquesne covered and won as a short favorite against St. Bonaventure in the A-10 Semifinals. We will get to their finals matchup in a bit. Houston wasn’t able to cover against Iowa St, losing in the Big 12 finals to the Cyclones. We moved to 204-153-3 on the year.
Yesterday was a worst-case scenario for Pitt, as NC State and Oregon both stole automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament. And with South Florida and FAU losing in the AAC semifinals, another bid will be stolen by either Temple and UAB. Last time these two teams met earlier this month, red flags were raised by sportsbooks about unusual betting in this game. Bet cautiously if you plan on putting some money on this game today.
All of this doesn’t help Pitt’s chances of making it to the tournament. If they do, more than likely they will be playing in Dayton in the first four. Say a prayer for the Panthers today, they will be living on one with their fate in the hands of the committee.

Duquesne Dukes vs VCU Rams (-2.5) O/U 127.5 A-10 Finals 1:00 PM on CBS
The way conference play started for the Dukes this year, I never imagined they would be in this position with a chance to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1977. The last time Duquesne made the tournament in 1977 gas was $0.62, Jimmy Carter was president and disco was still going strong. We have come a long way since then.
I am all in on the Dukes tonight. Keith Dambrot and his team deserves this after a rocky few year. And above all else, the Duquesne fans and alumni, like me, deserve this. We went through some lean years with this program in the 1990’s, the on-campus shooting that marred the Ron Everhart era and the debacle that was Jim Ferry’s tenure as coach. Duquesne covers and wins today versus VCU. Party like it’s 1977!

Florida Gators vs Auburn Tigers (-5.5) O/U 157.5 SEC Championship 1:00 PM on ESPN
It has been video game basketball in the SEC this year in not only the regular season and tournament. Points, points and more points have been the recipe for success. With Florida and Auburn today, I don’t expect anything less.
Both of these teams are already in the NCAA Tournament. A win today will improve their seeding, a loss really won’t affect their standing. Though I don’t really have a side to pick in this game, I like the over to cover today in the SEC Championship. First one to 90 points wins this game.

Detroit Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins (-140) O/U 6.5 6:00 PM on SportsNet Pittsburgh/NHL Network
While most of Pittsburgh will be glued to the NCAA Tournament announcements, the Red Wings/Penguins will face off at the same time. At this point, I don’t know what else to say about the Pens. They are bad, everything is bad. Honestly, this just sucks to even talk about this trainwreck at this point.
Both of these teams played yesterday but I don’t understand why the Pens are favored in this game. The only reason I can think of is because the Penguins are at home. Still, I am picking the Red Wings to win this game. There is no fight left in the Pens.
