Pitt target Deamontae Diggs.

With the departure of defensive end Dayon Hayes and an injury that will keep Nate Temple out for the season, Pitt may be in the market to add some depth on the defensive line.

On Wednesday, Pitt extended an offer to a hometown player in defensive lineman Deamontae Diggs.

The former McKeesport High School standout spent three seasons at Youngstown State and entered the portal just hours before receiving an offer from the Panthers. The versatile defensive lineman has two years of eligibility remaining.

In his junior season with the Penguins, Diggs recorded 11 total tackles with six solo takedowns. He added four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games as a d-line reserve.

During his first season of action as a sophomore, Diggs appeared in 10 games, tallying 15 total tackles, five solo, four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Throughout his time with the Penguins, Diggs has primarily lined up inside, but can slide over to defensive end if needed.

At McKeesport, Diggs anchored the defensive line and was named to the Big East Conference First-Team Defense following his senior season.

The 6-foot-6, 260-pound athlete also slotted in at wide receiver and tight end, catching 14 passes for 240 yards and rushing for an additional 165 yards for six total touchdowns.

Since entering the portal, Diggs has received offers from the Panthers, West Virginia, Coastal Carolina and UAB.
