Wednesday’s Best Draftkings Bets: Brewers-Pirates, Golden Knights-Stars, Pelicans-Thunder

The Winning Picks haven’t been so winning since the start of the NBA/NHL playoffs, finishing 1-2 again last night. The under was once again able to cover in Brewers/Pirates as the Bucs got a strong start from the surging Bailey Falter. The over could not cover in Lightning/Panthers as the team’s combined for 4 goals before the game went to overtime. The Clippers could not take a 2-0 series lead and lost to the Mavericks. We moved to 259-206-3 on the year.

If you have been sleeping under a rock for the last month or simply don’t follow the Pittsburgh Pirates, rookie starting pitcher Jared Jones has been spectacular this season. Through his first 5 stars, Jones is 2-2 with a 2.79 ERA and 39 strikeouts. Not only do those strikeouts lead all MLB rookies, it is currently the second most in all of baseball. Your leader? Ironically, former Pirate Tyler Glasnow. Remember I said to bet Glasnow a few weeks ago for the NL Cy Young.

With Jones’ start, he has rocketed to +550 for NL Rookie of the Year on Draftkings. He started the season closer to 100/1 odds. Though the value has shriveled up on Jones from his previous plateau, I would still bet Jones at the current number. The biggest factor in this is if the Pirates intend to shut Jones down if he sits a certain number of innings. If he is in the race for Rookie of the Year, I don’t see them doing that in fear of not only destroying credibility with the fans but ticking off Jones, who has an AJ Burnett like demeanor. Don’t screw with him. But if he is in the running, the Pirates don’t do that and he has the laser focus to win NL Rookie of the Year.

Milwaukee Brewers (-125) at Pittsburgh Pirates O/U 8.5 6:40 PM on SportsNet Pittsburgh

The Pirates are on a bit of a heater lately thanks to a lineup change by Derek Shelton. Moving Andrew McCutchen to the leadoff position has resulted in back-to-back games with leadoff homers. Oneil Cruz being moved down in the order has possibly helped him figure out how to hit again after 4 hits over the last 2 games.

Today they will face former Pirate pitcher Bryse Wilson while the Bucs will send former Ray Josh Fleming to the hill. Even though they have won the past two games, the Pirates offense is still struggling. The same goes for Milwaukee. Once again, I like the under tonight at PNC Park.

Under 8.5 Covers, Milwaukee Brewers 3 Pittsburgh Pirates 2

Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars (-162) O/U 6 9:30 PM on ESPN

Vegas looked determined in defending their Stanley Cup in the opener of this series as they jumped on Dallas early and held on for a win. The Stars can ill avoid to fall behind 2-0 in this series with the series heading back to Las Vegas after this.

Dallas will have to jump out early on Vegas like they did to them in Game 1. Starting fast means a lot in playoff hockey, especially when you are playing at home. It can send the crowd into a frenzy. I am expecting the Stars to be able to score early and score a lot to be able to hold off the Golden Knights. That is why I like the over tonight in the Lone Star State.

Over 6 Covers, Vegas Golden Knights 3 Dallas Stars 5

New Orleans Pelicans at Oklahoma City Thunder (-7.5) O/U 211.5 9:30 PM on TNT

The Pelicans were able to put a scare into this young Thunder team in Game 1. Oklahoma City was able to win, but New Orleans showed that they can hang with them. So what should be expected for Game 2 of this first round series?

I think the Pelicans will hang around in this series a lot longer than some pundits have predicted. The Thunder are a great team and are a deserving number 1 seed, but their obvious inexperience is going to play a factor in how long this series will go. Oklahoma City could still go up 2-0 winning as ugly as they did in Game 1. I think that is how this plays out tonight. Thunder win but Pelicans cover in a dog fight.
