UPDATE, 7 AM: Nate Yarnell has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watchlist, which is awarded annually to the top offensive player in Division I football who exhibits the characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.
The award has two criteria though. The winner must’ve played football and graduated from a Texas high school or is currently playing at a Texas Division I four-year college.
Yarnell played his high school ball at Lake Travis in Austin, Tx. And he’s entering his fourth season at Pitt with the expectation to start, even as he’s battling with Eli Holstein for the starting job. It’s a battle that will continue all the way up until the regular season.
