The Pitt basketball program has been trending upwards in the past two years, and it feels as though this summer was another successful one.
The Panthers first re-loaded the roster (although most of it was done by spring) with new players Brandin “Beebah” Cummings, Amdy Ndiaye. Amsal Delalic, Cam Corhen, and Damian Dunn. The newcomers joined the team months ago, and despite no foreign tour this year, seemed to gel just fine at the numerous events that the program held over the summer months, namely The Basketball Tournament.
Pitt’s recent basketball alumni thrived in the NBA Summer League, with Bub Carrington (No. 14 overall pick in the most recent NBA Draft) and Justin Champagnie (teammate with the Washington Wizards) leading the way. Jaland
The hype for this upcoming season has continued to increase. Jaland Lowe is a common pick nowadays for “breakout star” in the ACC and in the entire nation. He competed throughout the summer not only at Pitt practice but also at Chris Paul’s camp, a Nike camp in Oregon, and more.
To wrap up the summer, the Panthers gathered on Sunday with the entire team as well as family members of some of the coaching staff in Pittsburgh for food and games.
The Panthers’ 2024-25 season begins on Nov. 4 against the Radford Highlanders at the Petersen Events Center. With the newcomers listed above as well as returners Jaland Lowe, Ishmael Leggett, Guillermo Diaz Graham, and others, Pitt is looking to make a run back to this year’s NCAA Tournament.
