UPDATE, 7 AM: Pitt will pay tribute to a legend in the 2024-25 season.
The Pitt football helmets will feature a No. 38 sticker on the back, paying homage to the iconic Bobby Grier, who broke the color barrier by becoming the first Black player to play in the Peach Bowl in 1956. Grier was one of the most influential figures in college football in the 1950s.
Grier passed away on June 30 at the age of 91.
