Let’s check in with the latest prospect to receive an offer from the Pitt men’s basketball staff: Ethan Mgbako.

The four-star prospect out of the legendary Oak Hill Academy received an offer from Pitt’s staff on Monday, and broke it down with PSN shortly after.

Q: Which coach(es) from Pitt have been recruiting you? Who offered you?

A: “Coach Milan Brown initially began recruiting me, and now Coach Capel has taken the lead in my recruitment.”

Q: What did the Pitt staff say to you when they offered you?

A: They told me I remind them of several guards they’ve had in the past—but that I’m even bigger in size, which gives me a unique edge.

Q: Has the Pitt staff watched you play recently?

A: Yes, they watched me during my most recent EYBL games.

Q: How would you describe your skill set? What kind of player are you?

A: I’d describe my skill set as unique. I’m a fluid big guard with a high basketball IQ and a sharp-shooter. I compare my game to a Cade Cunningham and Dylan Harper. I take pride in being a leader and a team-first player.

Q: What do you think will be the main factors in your commitment? What are you looking for in a school?

A: The biggest factor will be how well the school fits me—both on and off the court. I’m looking for a program that aligns with my academic goals and can help elevate my game to the next level.

Mgbako is the younger brother of Mackenzie Mgbako, a former five-star prospect who played for Indiana and is currently in the NBA Draft process.

Mgbako is ranked as a four-star prospect on 247 Sports, coming in at No. 91 overall in the class of 2026, according to 247’s Composite rankings. He holds additional offers from the following schools: Georgetown, West Virginia, Creighton, LSU, Florida State, Mississippi State, and others. He plays his AAU ball for Team Melo on the Nike EYBL circuit.
