Pitt has officially signed 6-foot-9 Stony Brook transfer Mouhamadou “Mo” Gueye, the basketball team announced on Tuesday.
Gueye averaged 9.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.1 blocks per game last season and was named the America East’s defensive player of the year while also earning third team all-conference and all-defensive team honors.
“Mo [Mouhamadou] is a terrific athlete with a defensive mindset and a strong all-around skill set,” Pity head coach Jeff Capel said. “We love his competitiveness and ability to play above the rim on both ends of the floor. He gives us another versatile, experienced forward who can help impact winning.”
Gueye will have one season of eligibility with the Panthers. He’s the fifth new addition for the Panthers this offseason, joining Jamarius Burton (Texas Tech), Dan Oladapo (Oakland), Chris Payton (Indian Hills JC) and freshman Nate Santos.
