On Monday, WPIAL legend TJ McConnell cashed in on a massive contract, agreeing to stay with the Indiana Pacers for the next four seasons.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, McConnell’s deal is worth $35.2 million dollars, and will take him through his age-32 season.
As a senior at Chartiers Valley, he averaged north of 34 points per game and took home numerous awards prior to enrolling at Duquesne to continue his basketball career. After two successful years with the Dukes, McConnell transferred to Arizona and started all 76 games he played in a Wildcats Uniform. From there, he went un-drafted but was then picked up by the 76ers.
This upcoming season will be his third with Indiana after spending four with Philadelphia. McConnell is coming off of the best season of his career, in which he shot a career-high 56% as well as scored a career-high 8.6 points per game.
