The Pittsburgh Steelers have extended rookie minicamp invitations to 13 NFL hopefuls, including a few local prospects.
One invitation only had to be sent next door, as the Steelers offered one to former Pitt wide receiver Tre Tipton.
A seven-year veteran of the Panthers’ program, Tipton overcame injuries and mental health challenges to become a leader and advocate during his Pitt tenure. He received the 2021 Disney Spirit Award for courage he displayed during his college career.
Tipton totaled 40 receptions for 406 yards and two touchdowns over seven seasons. He also tallied eleven rushes for 61 yards.
