For the second time in the last week, a WPIAL senior has received a PWO offer from the Pitt Panthers.
First it was South Allegheny standout defensive end Dashawn Carter and last night, Plum High School’s Eryck Moore-Watkins got the call from Pitt.

Moore-Watkins is a 6’0″, 190-pound running back that finished the 2022 regular season with 183 carries for 1,493 yards (8.2 yds/carry) and 21 total touchdowns. This season, Moore-Watkins set two school records: Plum’s all-time leading rusher with 3,392 yards and single game rushing record (356 yards).
Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke on Tuesday morning with Moore-Watkins about his phone call with Karlo Zovko from Pitt and the opportunity that’s been presented to him.
“He was just saying that they believe I could play at the Power Five level and that they only have two PWO offers left and believes that I could go in there and work hard to earn a scholarship as a walk-on,” said Moore-Watkins. “It’s great to know that I have a top school looking at me. I haven’t received an offer yet so it’s definitely a great thing to have. Honestly, I was very surprised by it but I’m very happy for it. I’m glad that I have been given the opportunity to prove myself at a high level of football.”

“I believe that my strengths are that I’m a diverse running back. If a team needs me to get short yardage, I can do that. I’m able to get well, I believe I read my blocks well and can see where the holes are. I like to describe my running style as like Le’Veon Bell. I’m a patient runner, I run behind my blocks and if you give me just a couple seconds to look for a hole, I’ll find it and hit it hard. I’m an explosive runner and believe I bring a lot of good things to a team.”
The question now is what college team will Moore-Watkins be taking his skills to? Will he decide to accept this opportunity at Pitt or look to earn a full scholarship with another program?
“I’m definitely going to consider it because I follow them and am from Pittsburgh,” said Moore-Watkins. “A factor that my family and I will be looking at is whether or not they have my major. I believe Pitt is known as a medical school and I’m looking to go for business, so we’ll have to see about that. Obviously, I’m hoping that I can earn a full scholarship somewhere, but Pitt is definitely a place that I’m going to consider.”
