PFF Projects Kenny Pickett to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft

Pro Football Focus has unveiled their latest mock draft, and project the Pittsburgh Steelers will select their quarterback of the future in the first round.

With the 15th pick, PFF believes the Steelers will select Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett.

“A consistent knock-on Kenny Pickett will be that he’s a fifth-year senior and one of the older quarterback prospects in the 2022 class, but that shouldn’t keep him from being a top-20 pick in April’s draft,” PFF’s Austin Gayle writes. “He earned a career-high 92.3 PFF grade that ranked top-five among all quarterbacks in 2021. His PFF passing grade when kept clean was also among the best in all of college football at 94.3.”

Pickett is the second quarterback off the board in PFF’s latest mock. They have the Philadelphia Eagles taking Ole Miss passer Matt Corral four picks earlier.

Pickett won ACC Player of the Year and secured a spot in New York as a Heisman finalist by passing for 4,308 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.

I hope not for Kenny’s sake. Talk about a set up for failure 👎.

I know many local Pitt fans want Kenny to go to the Steelers, but I don’t see them taking him in the first round. In fact, I don’t think the Steelers think any of the QBs in this class are first-round worthy, so I think they’ll use their pick on either the OL or DL.

There are so many holes at all levels of the Steelers O and D that QB might not be a good pick in rd. 1

Let’s face it Pitt has a better OL than what the Steelers are putting out there each week.

Every week the Steelers are showing where their holes are. QB is not as pressing as others. It was good that Marino was drafted by someone other than the Steelers. Same will apply to Pickett.

If the Steelers pick him, fans should be prepared to see him prematurely abandoning the pocket on the regular. No Q.B. gets away with that in the NFL. Probably not a good pick for either party.
