Die-Hards: 4-Star Sharp-Shooter Gavin Griffiths Talks Pitt Offer and Possible Opportunity

Published

on

It’s no secret that one of if not the biggest weakness on the Pitt basketball team the last few years is the lack of a pure shooter. Someone with the ability to consistently knock down shots from the perimeter.

Jeff Capel is well aware of this need and is trying to recruit a player with that skillset to join his roster at Pitt.

That need will continue to be a priority for the next few recruiting classes and on Thursday, Pitt zeroed in on a player that could become an instant impact player.

Capel extended an offer to 2023 4-star wing Gavin Griffiths (6-foot-7, 180 pounds) from West Hartford, Connecticut. Both Rivals and 247Sports rate him as one of the Top 75 juniors in the country with offers from programs such as UConn, Dayton, Iowa, Maryland, Kansas State, Penn State, Providence, Rutgers, Syracuse, Creighton, Virginia Tech and Xavier.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke on the phone Friday with Griffiths, who told us about his conversation with the Pitt staff, their big message to him, this possible opportunity with Pitt and more.
