After hosting the top guard priorities for visits over the last few weekends, Pitt head coach Jeff Capel is out on the road checking out one of the program’s top forward recruits on Tuesday.
Kante is a 6-foot-10 senior forward at South Kent School up in Connecticut. He is ranked as the No. 91 overall player in the class by 247 Sports. Kante took an official visit to Pitt in late June, but appears to want to visit again, according to an interview with 247’s Dushawn London on Monday.
“I’m getting close a little bit but I need to visit those schools again,” he told London. “Memphis has come into the mix too so I’m looking forward to seeing those schools probably soon. I’m probably going to visit Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan, Pitt and Memphis. Michigan is also supposed to come to my open gym Tuesday.”
Back in late July, Kante’s coach Raphael Chillious updated Pitt’s chances with Kante for PSN.
“Pitt is in the mix,” Chillious told PSN. “They were the first school to ever offer him. That’s always something important in the relationship & recruiting process.”
As for the forward position, Pitt also recently hosted New Jersey forward Ladji Dembele for an official visit.
