Poll: Do You Like that Pitt is Opening the Season With a Tough Matchup?

Five more days until the Pitt Panthers kickoff off their 2019 football season.

Instead of starting the season against a cream puff, Pitt will open the season against ACC rival Virginia, the favorite in the Coastal Division.

The pros of starting with this type of opponent are the confidence the Pitt team would gain by winning and also the credibility they’d gain within the conference and the country.

When you start with a perceived “lesser” opponent, a team has a chance to work on things and work out the opening game kinks and jitters.
