Pat Narduzzi and his staff were busy offering high school junior and sophomores yesterday and one of the more intriguing offers went to Pennsylvania three-star junior athlete C.J. Dippre (6-foot-5, 245 pounds) from Lakeland High School in Jermyn, Pennsylvania.

Dippre has visited Pitt multiple times over the last year including for their junior day in January and was really hoping for that offer, which arrived Monday night.

”I was at work when Coach [Tim] Salem texted me to give him a call,” Dippre told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I went into the back and got on the phone with coach. He asked me how everything was going, how track was going and then he told me Pitt wanted to offer me a football scholarship. He said they weren’t sure for what position and it’s just as an athlete for now. He was really excited and said he’d like to take advantage of me at tight end but they’re not sure yet.

“I had a feeling that coach was going to offer me. I know he said after junior day that it would be coming soon enough and it did. I’m really excited and I was telling everyone at work after I got it. It was really cool to finally receive it and they’re a place I’m definitely going to consider going to in the future.”

Pitt is just the latest school to get involved with Dippre as he now holds offers from Army, Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, Buffalo, UConn, Kent State, Liberty, Maryland, Temple and Virginia.

”I’m really excited with the interest I’m receiving,” said Dippre. “I think once you get noticed by one school other schools will start coming after you. Once you start getting offers from the ACC and Big 10 others will start coming after you. It’s an exciting time.”

Pitt is obviously a big offer for Dippre and one he’s been waiting for. Is he now considering making a quick decision or will he let the recruiting process extend into his senior season?

”I’m planning on making a decision in June. The end of April, I’ll start to personally contact the coaches of schools that I won’t be going to to let them know and thank them for the offer and interest because I don’t want them waiting on me,” said Dippre.

Although he hadn’t narrowed his list of offers yet, Pitt will be a school that makes Dippre’s list of finalists.

Looks like a stone-cold competitor.
Come on to Pitt!

Would certainly be nice to land Dippre. A big, athletic and strong tight end would be just what the doctor ordered for Pitt. Would be nice to have either Yellen or Beville having Dippre for a dependable target. I hope we’re able to land him because I have a feeling he is going to turn out to be a big time tight end.
