Tim Salem and the Pitt Panthers officially extended an offer to 2023 3-star tight end Jackson Carver on February 17, and he isn’t taking much time to learn more about the Panthers program.

The native of Culver, Indiana flew to Pittsburgh last night and will start an unofficial visit today.

Carver (6’6″, 220-pounds) holds offers from Boston College, Duke, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

“I actually took an unofficial visit with Minnesota in January but I’m excited for March and April and the visits that I’ll be making,” said Carver. “It’ll really be helpful to get out to a handful of schools and really get a feel for what I want, regarding the school, coaching styles and team culture. Doesn’t really feel like my recruiting is just starting, as I’ve had phone calls with coaches every day for the past month.”

This will be a busy weekend for Carver as he’ll be in Pittsburgh today, will then visit Iowa on Saturday and in Wisconsin on Sunday. Carver doesn’t know much about the University of Pittsburgh which is a reason he made sure to take the time to make a visit early this spring.

“I don’t know as much about the academic side of the school so that will definitely be a point of interest when I get to campus tomorrow (today). I like Pitt and they have a really good program, coming off of a really good season so I’m interested in seeing what goes on at practice and in their position meetings.”

“I have been in touch with Coach Salem the most recently and he actually graduated from the high school (St. Thomas Academy) that I was at before transferring to Culver last year,” said Culver. “We know a lot of the same families so that has been a good connection to form a relationship from. I’m just very interested in Coach Narduzzi’s ability to produce NFL caliber players so to get to see him coaching in person and at practice will be exciting.”
