The Pitt football coaches are on the road recruiting and this morning they made an interesting offer to a player from New York.
Quarterback Matt Valecce (Fordham Prep) from Bronx, New York received an offer from Tim Salem.
This is Valecce’s first Power Five offer, his other offers are from Massachusetts and Brown.
“I have been talking to Pitt since February. Coach Watson and Coach Salem came to see me throw this morning and after the session they had me call Coach Narduzzi who offered me. It was an amazing moment,” said Valecce.
This offer leads me to believe that the Pitt coaches aren’t sold that they’re guaranteed to get a commitment from one of the three other uncommitted quarterbacks that they’ve offered already.
Kevin Doyle, Chase Wolf, Carter Bradley have all held offers from Pitt for a while with Doyle and Wolf making visits to campus. Valecce is a talented prospect who could decide to take advantage of this major offer.
Although I haven’t been able to confirm this, I believe with their limited number of scholarships this year, Pitt will only be taking one quarterback in this class.
I asked Valecce where Pitt ranks with him and he answered.
“Extremely high. I’ve formed a great relationship with them so far.”
Will Matt Valecce be the one?
UPDATE:
Following Pitt’s offer, Valecce just received another one from Rutgers.
